This privacy policy covers the jamaatdirectory.com website and the Jamaat Directory app for Android and iOS, published by BisTech Solutions. Last updated: October 8 2026.
Protecting your privacy and personal information is a priority. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you interact with our website. Please read this policy carefully to understand our practices regarding your personal data.
This section explains how the Jamaat Directory app handles information. Privacy questions: support@jamaatdirectory.com.
What the app does not collect. The app has no sign-in. It does not ask for your name, email or phone number, and it does not access your contacts, photos or files. It contains no ads and no third-party advertising, analytics or crash-reporting code, and it does not use an advertising ID or track you across other apps. We review stored searches ourselves, as described under Searches.
Searches. When you search, the words you type are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our server at api.jamaatdirectory.com to find matching businesses. To rank the results, our server sends your search words, together with our public list of businesses, to an AI service, Anthropic’s Claude API. Anthropic processes them on our behalf. Under its commercial terms it may not use them to train its models, and it deletes them within 30 days unless they are flagged for misuse or the law requires otherwise. If that service is unavailable, a backup search service that we run on Hugging Face’s hosting platform is used instead. We store each search: the words (up to 500 characters), the time, which businesses were shown, and technical details such as which service answered and how long it took. We do not store your name, account, device identifier or IP address with your searches. We use this information to provide search, monitor its quality and cost, and understand what kinds of businesses people look for. We may tell listed businesses how often they appeared in results, as counts only, never the words you searched. We keep search records until we delete them, and will delete a search on request (see Your choices). Please don’t type personal details, such as health information, into search.
Location. Location is optional. The app asks for permission only when you tap “Use my location”, and it never uses location in the background. Your phone’s built-in location service (Google on Android, Apple on iOS) turns your position into a town or city name, and that service may receive your coordinates. The app uses the town name to show businesses in that area. Your location is never sent to Jamaat Directory’s servers and is not stored. Only the area you choose (for example “Vaughan”) is saved, on your device. You can pick an area from the list instead, and you can turn off location permission at any time in your phone’s settings.
Saved listings. Bookmarks are stored only on your device. If your phone’s backup is turned on, they may be included in your own Google or Apple device backup, which we cannot access. Uninstalling the app removes them from your phone, although a device backup may restore them if you reinstall.
Technical information. When the app contacts our server, our server and our hosting provider (SmarterASP.NET) receive your device’s IP address and a basic app identifier (the app name and your phone’s operating-system version). For normal app requests our code does not store these. We use IP addresses briefly, in memory, to limit request rates and prevent abuse. Requests rejected for a missing or invalid access key are logged with the IP address and app identifier for about 30 days. Our hosting provider also keeps standard web server access logs (IP address, time, the address requested and the app identifier) under its own retention policy; we use them only for security and troubleshooting. Business photos load from our website, jamaatdirectory.com, which is delivered through Cloudflare. When photos load, Cloudflare and our website host receive your IP address and your phone’s standard web identifier, which may include your phone model and Android version, and use them only to deliver the site.
Links to other apps and our website. Call, Directions, Website and Share hand the business’s public details to the app you choose (dialer, maps, browser or share target), and that app’s privacy policy applies. “Report this review” opens an email to us. “Add your listing” and “Write a review” open jamaatdirectory.com, which the website sections of this policy cover.
Sharing. We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. Our service providers (Anthropic, Hugging Face, SmarterASP.NET, Cloudflare and our website host) process information only on our behalf, and may do so outside Canada, including in the United States. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Security. All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS, and access to our database is restricted.
Children. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices. Searches are not linked to you, so we cannot look up “your” searches. If you want a search deleted, email support@jamaatdirectory.com with the words you searched and roughly when, and we will delete matching records within 30 days.
Changes. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top when this policy changes.
The Jamaat Directory app, published by BisTech Solutions, has no sign-in, but you can create an account on jamaatdirectory.com, for example to write a review. To delete that account and the data linked to it, email support@jamaatdirectory.com from the address on your account with the subject “Delete my account”. We will confirm by email and delete your account, profile, email address and the reviews you wrote within 30 days. If you paid for a business listing, we keep the payment records for as long as Canadian tax law requires (generally six years), then delete them. To delete only some of your data, such as one review, without deleting your account, email the same address.
